K - 2nd graders will begin August 25th.

The August memory verse is:

Matthew 5:3-5
3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.

The School Shirt orders will be distributed at parent night on August 19th.

Please let us know if you are interested in carpooling. We can then make your contact information available to the other parents.

Please continue to clip boxtops throughout the summer! Mrs. Shenberger will collect them at the beginning of next year. This is an easy way for you to help earn extra money for the school.

Please join us on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. for He Brews Coffee hour! We will enjoy fellowship, coffee and Bible study.

7th grade and up are invited to BBCA Youth Group. We meet on Wednesdays from 6:15 til 8:15 p.m. Come out and bring a friend!

We are asking that you send in a small bottle of hand sanitizer and a box of tissues for your child’s office. We are hoping to cut down on the spread of illness in this way.

This year we are encouraging parents to send in a seat cushion for their student’s chair. We just ask that the cushion be white or green (any shade).

Each Friday an e-mail is sent out with timely information and reminders for all parents (i.e. monthly scripture, important calendar dates and fund raiser deadlines etc.) If you would like to receive our weekly parent e-mail, please write out your e-mail address and turn it in to the school office.

Just a reminder this is not an open campus and any visitors that come on campus must first sign in at the front office.

If your child is sick, please keep them home but you must also call the school office (301) 262-0578 to notify their teacher of the reason for their absence.

SCHOOL EMERGENCY PLAN

Our school has compiled, in addition to our standard Emergency Response Procedures, a Bio-terrorism response plan based on the recommendations of many of the governmental agencies that deal with these issues. However, we wanted you to be aware of some of the things to expect in the event a bio-terrorist incident were to occur. The following is a summery of the plan of action:
A. Parent/Guardian Communications
The administration will use every effort to communicate with
parents or guardians. We will post messages on our voice mail
and on the web site (www.bbcacademy.org) Please bear in mind
that it will be necessary for us to coordinate with applicable
enforcement agencies, so please be patient. We will do
everything we can to make sure you are kept informed.
B. Facility Security
We have taken steps that will provide us the ability to secure
the facility according to the recommendations of the agencies we
have contacted. Windows and doors will be sealed, ventilation
equipment will be shut down, and access to and from the
building will be secured.
C. Dismissal/Visitor Policies
Planning for the efficient evacuation and dismissal of
students, staff and/or visitors will be conducted by the
administration in coordination with the proper authorities.
D. Specific procedures you and your child need to know:
1. It is impossible to predict every scenario that may occur.
There could be circumstances beyond our control that may make
it impossible to pick up your child(ren) at the onset of a
threat. We ask for your patience and understanding in this
matter.
2. We are asking that parents provide a snack, (sealed and
labeled with your child's name in a Ziploc bag) to be kept in
the classroom for emergency use.
3. In the event of a bio-chemical emergency, please supply
your child with a change of clothes, including undergarments
and socks. Students in the elementary level will have their
clothes stored in their classroom. For students in grade 7-12
we will have a storage area available. Clothing should be put
in a bag and labeled with the student's name.
4. If your child has a cell phone they will be allowed to
contact you. There may be a need to share their cell phone with
other students in order for everyone to make contact with family
members.
5. Please make sure all work and emergency phone numbers are up
to date at all times. This is extremly important information,
vital to making sure communication with you can be made.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the office.
